Tallahassee Police Make Arrest Following Apalachee Parkway Homicide
April 23, 2025
The Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) arrested one person in connection with a homicide that occurred in a wooded area behind a business in the 3500 block of Apalachee Parkway.
On April 21, at approximately 3:45 p.m., TPD officers responded to reports of gunfire in the area. Officers searched a nearby wooded area but did not locate any evidence of a shooting at that time.
The following day, on April 22, at 6:09 p.m., officers responded to a business located on Park Avenue in reference to a 911 caller who wished to report a homicide. Additionally, the witness advised they believed the victim's body was still in the area.
With assistance from Air 1, officers located a wooded encampment and discovered a deceased adult male concealed under a mattress and wrapped in a tarp. The suspect, 45-year-old Adam Neeley, was found nearby and detained at the scene.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives learned that Neeley and the victim were involved in a verbal altercation, during which Neeley shot the victim multiple times, resulting in his death. Neeley then attempted to conceal the victim's body and coerce others in the area to help him cover up the crime. The individuals refused and eventually contacted law enforcement.
Further investigation revealed that Neeley is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing a firearm. After consultation with the State Attorney's Office, he was arrested and transported to the Leon County Detention Facility.
This swift investigation and arrest reflect TPD's commitment to pursuing justice and holding violent offenders accountable. Anyone with information related to criminal activity is encouraged to call TPD at 850-891-4200 or remain anonymous by contacting Crime Solvers at 850-574-TIPS.
Arrested: Adam Neeley, 45, for First Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
